This is the scariest road I have ever traveled and even makes me uncomfortable during the day. The lights are there you just have to go there to see them. There is an unmarked grave yard on this road where some Mexican guys were buried years ago. There is a marker showing that the grave site is near but I have never traipsed through the woods trying to find it. As a side note this is a picture that my camera snapped on it's on when I was walking Ghost Road. I got out of my truck (to see if I could see the graves from the road) and laid my camera on the hood and I found this nice picture of myself when I uploaded the images later at home. Maybe I hit the auto take thing by mistake. (it requires several adjustments however to do that) It still freaked me out because it had never happened before nor since! And the trees in the photo seemed to be leaning in on me.

The ''Light of Saratoga'' is a legend located in the Big Thicket of Southeast Texas. This legend of a mysterious light is also known as the ''Ghost Road'' of Saratoga, the ''Saratoga Light'', and ''Bragg Road Ghost Light'' by local residents. Located on a dirt road, it is a light that may appear and disappear at random during the dark of night without explanation. The strange light is often described as changing from yellow to white, and sometimes appearing red as it may approach the observer. Some witnesses have observed that the light will sway back-and-forth, as if someone were carrying a lantern and walking. Another common attribute given to the strange light is its unpredictable nature. Some eyewitnesses have attempted to follow or approach the light with no success. However, there are some that claim that the light has actually followed or entered their vehicle while traveling the dirt road at night. There are different beliefs as far as what the ghostly light could be, such as swamp gas and similar natural occurrences. The most popular story surrounding this legend is that a railroad worker was decapitated in a railway accident, and the light is that of his lantern as his ghost searches endlessly for his head. [1].

My grandfather and my dad were from Saratoga. They never talked about the light much. I don't think my grandfather had ever seen it, and he lived there all of his life. For those who know Saratoga; there are old oil fields all over the place there, most are used up, a couple still active. They've been there for over 100 years. There's no telling what sort of gases might be coming out of the ground.
I've been on Bragg's Road a couple of times over the years but I've never seen the light. I have seen some strange things in the sky there at night. One night, a friend and I were on Bragg's Road and saw a fast moving star-like object that whiz by almost straight up in the sky. A couple of seconds later, about six (what appeared to be) military choppers followed it. Submitted by Allen Category: lights

and expected no more that to tell some ghost stories and scare the girls. LeeRoy and I step out of the car after several stories to make noises and pretend to see the light. To our amazement the LIGHT came up straight out of the middle of the road. We jumped back in the car, LeeRoy told me to take off, I said I don't think so, the light was about six

feet off the ground. Being to scared to drive, we just watched the light pass through the pine trees untill it finally disappeared. I was 17at the time, I don't know what it was, maybe swamp gas, but it was a very exciting night and the girls sure set a lot closer to us on the way home. We also exited the dirt road to fast and it cost us our last $14.00 and cents to get pulled out of the ditch. Ghost, swamp gas or whatever, it is truly a night that will stay wih me till the end. I now live in Mustang, Ok. Submitted by Tony Category: lights
Me and a friend went down ''Brag Road'' a few years ago. At first we saw the light in front of us, we stopped turned the car off and waited. A few seconds later the light was no longer in front of us but behind us shining in our rear view mirror. We placed our hands on the console at the same turned and faced each other then looked behind us. The light was gone we were in total darkness. Then the interior light came on in the car. As a child that lived in

Batson, we went down the road many times. Sometimes seeing the light sometimes not. I moved from that area when my parents divorced in 1990 I was 16 yrs old. Now a 35 yr old mother of 2 I pass this 'story' on to my kids, and I'll be taking them to see the light for the first time this year. Submitted by Dana Categories: cars, lights, roadside
