South Padre Island, Texas Ghost Tales In the summer of 1978 I had gone surf fishing with my uncle and we were driving back along the beach in our four wheel drive about 0230 hours. We were about 30 miles south of Malachai beach driving North when we spotted a woman walking by herself in the dark at waters edge. That night was very dark with no moon and there were no other vehicles for miles either before or after the area the woman was walking. The woman was wearing a long white gown and was walking in ankle deep water. Our head lamps were on her as we approached from a few yards. She never looked up and completly ignored our presence. We only stared in disbelief as we drove past her. Her clothing were not consistant with some one walking on the beach. She had long blond hair and was very fair skinned. I was 15 years old and very sober minded. None of us in the truck said anything. We all knew we had seen something very weird. It was as if she was looking for something or some one. She seemed sad. Today I am a Police Officer, but the memory of that night has never past.
