West Columbia, Texas Ghost Tales I grew up in West Columbia during the 80's. We (me & my family) lived in Alamo Heights on Houston St. There my entire family were the victims of a haunting. There was the young girl who lived in our play room she wore victorian age clothes and sometimes would come into both mine and my parents' bedroom from time to time. She was just a young girl who would get into mistif but not harmful nonetheless. Then there was the spirit of a large man so we think it was a man. He would comeup to you and try to smell you. He slapped my mother in the face. My dad would see the girl in his bedhroom. I was slapped on the bottom while in my bedroom while bending over looking through tapes (it was the 80's). The entire family saw ghastly creatures from time to time as well an overwhelmingsense of evil. In the end we were finally able to leave and life for us was much better. However I often think of that house on Houton st. and wonder about the new owners. Night hour is undeceased time in this place. Not everyone has faith in the reports the local residents tell, but a stopover in West Columbia, Texas will make anyone believe. These are some of the spooky   things that have happened here recently. A female without a head may be witnessed time and again in a West Columbia secondary school at midnight marching the corridors. In any event, this spirit unquestionably is creepy; one that is rather not upset. The ghost of a young-looking woman with a line around her neck is every now and then witnessed dragging a body from the chilly water of Bell Creek at the stroke of midnight. A local person declares that this ghost likes terrifying people who are bold enough to disturb the calm in West Columbia. An unbelievably bloodcurdling phantom has been made out on frequent occasions in Varner Hogg Plantation State Historical Park in the early morning hours before sunrise trying to find a photo. One of the folks who live here firmly says that this ghost loves terrifying unwise folks who come trying to locate ghosts in West Columbia. The ghost of an elderly gold digger with a big mustache and a wooden leg may every so often be seen guzzling root beer in Cannon Gully late in the night.
