White Oak, Texas Ghost Tales | |
|
When we moved in our home in White Oak in 1989 we had several ghost encounters for the first five years. While watching T.V. late at night my son (then 7) and I would see the back door knob turn and a strong cigarett smell that would last for several minutes. There were cold spots that would raise the hair on your back. Doors would slam shut for no reason and you could hear a baby cry. Early in the a.m. you could hear someone running water in the bathrooms and a shuffle of someone walking up and down the hall. My daughter who was 8 years old at the time would wake up all hours of the night frighted because she felt someone was watching her sleep and her room would get either real hot or real cold for no apparent reason. This stopped as soon as she reached the age of 15. We learned later that a woman in her 20's had died of lung cancer in our bedroom a couple of years before we bought the house. Submitted by C.L.B. was taken back in 1987 at the White Oak football field. I grew up in a old white wooden house on West Bingham. A relative of my dad committed suicide in that house a few years before we move there. As young boy, I experienced several strange occurrences in that house. The house was torn down in 1991,and I have no pictures of it. Some of those young

ghost of White Oak, are either my relatives or many of my friends. If you see a tombstone with the name Owens on it in the White Oak cemetery, then they are my family. I'm going to send you the picture that I was referring to in a few days, but in the mean time, I was wondering if you might know anything about the history of the property where the Taco Bell/KFC is now currently located. My friends and me used to hang out there back in the 1980's,and at that time it was covered with trees, but a old building had once been there but it was destroyed by a fire at one time, All that was left was some of the original foundation, and a cement fish pond with a birdbath in the middle of it. In 1985 I camped out there one night by myself. I was 17 and I was never afraid of the dark, plus this was near the police station. So I didn't have any reason to be paranoid about being there by myself at night. But I started having the very real sensation of being watched, and I had the distinct feeling that I was trespassing on sacred ground. I left. I

have no clue as to what the history of that place is but I'm in the process of obtaining some Arial photos of White Oak. I might be able to show what the property looked like back in the day. Take care and God bless. Submitted by Terry Category: cemetery
