I grew up in Wimberley and used to make trips to the Junction with friends late at night. One night on our way back from the Junction (we were coming down ranch road 12 on the devil's backbone just past the mountain view inn) we saw a young girl walking on the right side of the road.
She was wearing a white dress and looked very pale. I remember she had a terrified look on her face. My friend tried to stop quickly to see if the girl needed help but we ended up passing her. When he finally came to a stop we turned around to look and she was gone.

Comment by Kathy: I have lived in Wimberley since 91 and I do believe all of it have had slaves and Indians die here. They wander around all of these parts. It was 4 years ago dark and raining. I had just past the rest stop on RR 12 coming into Wimberley going down the big hill it's what I call it.
I saw 2 young children and an adult walking up the hill. Pulled over quick and I got off my truck and could see only dark figures walking. They didn't hear me when I yelled at them. I did a uturn at Jeans Antiques.
Went up the hill and there was no one on the road. I drove around again because I wanted to help them. It was rainy and dark. I remember not seeing actual faces. Just dark figures. I never found them and I thought that was odd because I just barely passed them.
Where did they go? So when I read this I am like well that explains it !.

My parents bought 5 acres close to Woodcreek back in the early 70's. Down the street in the woods was an small old grave yard. I went back in the 80''s and all of the old grave stones there were gone and the land was up for sale.
I came back later and someone had built a house right on top of the graves. I retired in 2007 and was looking for a house to buy. The real estate lady took me to look at it. It was nice on the outside but when we entered into it both of us got a big rush and left fast.
