I lived in Winters for many years on West Pierce Street, the little house that we lived in was apparently home for a spirit. Nearly every night we would hear footsteps come from the back of house to the front room. Once when I was staying all by myself I heard a noise that sounded like a big tray of silverware dropped in the kitchen. The railroad tracks were only a block away, and there is a story that two headless men would be seen there sometimes late at night. A very old man told us that way back in the 30s or 40s two men had drunk way too much and decided to use the steel track as a pillow. Apparently they had folded a jacket and made a small pad and put it on the rail and gone to sleep off the night of drinking. The train decapitated both men and people guess they are out and about looking for the severed heads. There used to be a huge cotton warehouse there last time I was in Winters, I noticed it had been torn down.

I once was in my sisters room watching TV one night and I was looking down the hall when I saw a shadow figure come out of the bathroom and walk right into my bedroom. I think I understand why I was always hearing noises in the middle of the night.
