Berthoud, Colorado Ghost Tales Lived in the 545 9th Street home across from the Junior High School from 1975 to 1987.  I lived there from birth until 13 years of age.  During that time, my brothers and I have experience strange happenings and feelings. On one occasion, my brother Mike and I were the only people in the home right before school.  I heard boxes being thrown about in the attic and thought it was my brother Mike, but he soon came from the basement where his room was.  I asked him to listen to the noise and he could hear it too, we decided to get out of there and get to school.  When I came home the boxes we had in the attic were tossed around like someone had rummaged them. On another occasion, my brother Peter came home from school to find himself alone in the house.  He heard a noise in the basement and when he went down he found a wine bottle broken in the center of the cellar.  He cleaned it up, but did not tell me about it until years after it happened. I often felt a strong presence of someone (a female) in the attic of the home when ever I was up there       alone.  I also felt a hand on my chest late at night when my brother and I were sleeping (upstairs in a room adjacent to the attic). I asked my mother about these experiences and she later confessed that my parents bought the home at an estate sale.  The home was previously owned by a doctor who drove his wife nuts and killed herself.  After his death,   the home went up for sale. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. A lady having the head of a demon has occasionally been made out dining on a tomato in a metal boat on Crystal Reservoir. A lady gripping her head under her arm is once in a while spotted in the center of Dry Creek swallowing chlorine. The ghost of a guy with half his head lost has been said to have been made out on one or two instances on a dark night hovering across Mullen Park. Local people declare that this ghost is the undead soul of a long departed Berthoud person who lived here.
