I used to live in Mancos. I know the high school is haunted. The 3rd floor is haunted by a young freshman who fell to his death climbing the rocks above the Mancos River (around the 1900's). Anyway he used to turn on the water faucets when the science classes were there.
Later when the library was there he would pull all the misfiled books and put them neatly on the corner of the librarian's desk. The Wrightsman Hotel (now it's a bed and breakfast) is haunted by a cowboy who disagreed with everybody (who was ''important'') politically.
He was from Ouray and came back to Mancos to get supplies, visit with friends whatever. There was one sentence written about him in the personals in the Mancos times.|
Mr. _____ has left Mancos. Usually in the personals people submit names of visitors where they were from what they did etc. Because Mancos was off the beaten path. (it still is) I don't think the cowboy ever left Mancos.
I heard from older ladies who used to work for Mrs. Wrightsman that the lights would turn on and off. The doors would open and close. The basement was creepy. The stairs would sound like someone was walking up and down them all the time.
