We happened to live in the old wooden house directly across from the Railroad depot. When we moved there we greeted one day by a Mr. Zwick. (farmer and teacher at the grade school). He expressed the need to show my parents a newspaper clipping from long ago about a former Mayor of Manzanola who in what must have been a turbulent time, decided to end his life by hanging himself from     outside of what was my parents bedroom. Now granted the house was built in the late 1800s and would creak and moan on windy nights. (also on quite still nights). I slept on the third floor where the helps bunk room used to be. The room had two doors that opened and closed often by themselves, of course only when the light was off. On the main floor in what was our dinning room was a very large mirror with pillars on both sides, my siblings and I always saw a man with out stretched arms seemingly wanting to pull us through it to what ever hell he was in.
