Some of the dead don't want to stay underground in this city. Not everybody has faith in the stories the people who live here tell, but bloodcurdling things undeniably take place here in Fort Sumner in the dark hours. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. The phantom of a gentleman having names carved into his leg can often be noticed pulling a body through some bushes in Early Spanish Route Historical Marker very late at night. It has been said that this particular ghost could be a renowned former time local of Fort Sumner. The phantom       of a train driver can be distinguished repeatedly gazing at folks in a Fort Sumner trailer through a keyhole. The phantom of a seriously mangled huntsman pulling a dead wolf is from time to time noticed at Fort Sumner Diversion Dam before sunrise pointing at the viewer.
