It's been an interesting couple of days ghost hunting near Silver City, NM. We didn't get any EVPs but we did see what may have been shadow figures. After Karaoke Night ended and the Buffalo Bar downstairs from our room closed at 2 AM last night, I did hear a female voice that seemed to be whispering in my ear. She was loud enough that it woke me up. I also heard some loud raps on our room door. First a single rap, then a few seconds later two more and finally a few seconds after that three raps.
We returned to Fort Bayard tonight in order to try to get record some EVPs. We were not successful in that endeavor but while standing in the gazebo at the old hospital administration building, Lori and I heard what seemed like the sounds of rifles being fired on a shooting range. Perhaps 200 shots rang out in a matter of 15 to 20 seconds then they stopped as quickly as they began.
When they stopped, I said these words that will be familiar to any soldier who took basic training or qualified to fire a weapon in the Army: ''Ready on the right the right is ready. Ready on the left, the left is ready. Lock and load one 10 round magazine. Upon my signal, commence firing, Commence firing. '' The same volley of shooting rang out from inside the administration building. I then said, ''Cease fire, cease fire,'' and the shooting stopped.
This event gave me goose bumps and caused Lori to want to immediately go back to our hotel room. Except for one guy in a pick up truck and a sheriff's deputy we saw no other living person at the old Fort Bayard Hospital complex. We saw no one inside any of the buildings. There is no doubt in my mind that Fort Bayard is a hotbed of paranormal activity.
During the two nights we visited the old hospital we had many feelings we were being watched. We each saw flashing orbs with our eyes but were unable to get an image of them. I wish I knew someone who works at the old Fort Bayard. I would love to spend the night there sometime.
