I heard this story through my dad and grandparents. There used to be this old Alamo tree by the Rio Grande the road connecting Vado and La Mesa. According to stories they heard a couple committed suicide in the early 1900s. According to the story, it was a white woman and a Mexican ranch hand that were having an affair. The girl's father didn't approve so somehow she decided to commit suicide. She hanged herself on the Alamo tree, when the ranch hand saw this

the old supply store to buy something and started driving back around 7:00pm. My dad has just met my mom, my grandparents' daughter, and had been with her for a couple of months. They saw a young woman walking on the side of the road. She was blond and looked in her early 20s. She was wearing a thin sundress and slippers, and she was crying. They stopped and noticed she was crying. My grandpa spoke better English than my dad and offered her a ride.
