A       feminine character has been said to have been witnessed on a few occasions appearing menacing in the middle of Cottonwood Creek. The ghost of a guy grasping a sword was perceived trying to locate   an object next to a parked vehicle in a Jay Em parking lot in the early morning hours before sunrise. The ghost was ingested by the night after being witnessed. A lady with larvae crawling out of her nose appeared in a Jay Em area grocery store, wandering the aisles. When witnessed the ghost came within reach of the observer who then escaped. A number of of the people who live in this town argue this spirit is the spirit of a vacationer that was killed while traveling through Jay Em long ago. The phantom of a female with a knife in her chest was perceived chucking pieces of wood in Guernsey State Park at the ranger station. There have been additional stories concerning this phantom in the vicinity. It's been asserted that this individual ghost is that of a local person who had a house here in Jay Em long ago.
