Often we would find all of our kitchen cabinets open when we came downstairs. On that note... My husband opened the refrigerator to find one of our kittens trying to get out! Several times after that we found her in impossible places she could not have gotten in by herself.
Avenal... A true ghost town. I have many more stories.

We were exploring. It's what we loved to do. Our sights were set on making it as far up Tar Canyon Road as possible. I was sure I was going to find treasures beyond Smithsonian's wildest dreams (and no I wasn't about to donate anything the prairie gave to me.) After an hour of walking we came to some cows and an old wooden cattle ramp. It was just me, Jeff, and the cows out there. Quiet. Quiet until we heard the unmistakable sound of cowboy boots walking down the wooden ramp. There was me, Jeff, and the cows. No cowboys. No caballeros. Not even a government employee spying on us! The sound of spurred boot heels walking on the wooden planks is a memory of Avenal. One of many I will never forget. Oh! Goodnight Jackie and Bob and China ( and Robert at the old morgue.) May the angels keep you all safe. And Bob, his daddy really was a tiger! Miss you all !! Jeff and Joni.

Today at the night I went to Avenal High School with my cousin. We were running up the and down in the stairs cause me and my cousin was doing exercise and my cousins was far from the stairs and I saw something black went up the stairs. I think it was a shadow and I was crying, and the people were looking because the people were running.
My cousin doesn't believe in ghost. She said I was lying about the shadow and I was really scared because people said they saw shadows too, and I couldn't stop crying. My heart was beating so fast like I couldn't breath so I am never going back there again only in the morning because I don't want to see that shadow again. .
