Family Vacation 2009
2:57am Aug 2009 finishing a poker tournament with family and friends. When my sister got up to get a beer when she looked at us with shock and started to hug herself. She made eye contact with me and said ''oh no''. I automatically got up and ran to her from the dinning room and when I asked what was wrong she had tears in her eyes, and said that she saw a little kid around 5-7 yrs old in red pajamas laying down outside the sliding door and looking at us. When she saw it it got up and ran away. As soon as she told me that I got a kitchen knife a flashlight and got a friend of mine who was also playing poker with us. We went out side to look around. Right when we stepped outside we heard a loud scream. It sounded like something or someone was calling out a name. Once I heard the vivid voice I stopped and turned my head to try to figure out the direction of the person or thing. We were all shocked and confused trying to find out what happened. We went back inside and stopped the game. We just got in the living room

and sat next to the fire in dead silence. No one wanted to say anything. It's as if we all knew what happened. But it seemed if it will come back again. Awkward silence and blank stairs with every one turning there head left right around. Then we just slowly started talking trying to change the mood. Only on the darkest hour of the third night that the sun and the moon share the skies as equals does he appear. I saw this man described to me by the locals as a ''wendigo'' who frequently walks the path over Big Bear Lake. He is a tall being, yet having a pin thin like body. A one Mr. Rodgers quoted, ''The way he stood was as if he was mourning a loved one. He has a pale white body that in the right shine of the mountain moon would appear to be translucent.'' After an evening dinner with Mr. Rodgers, he asked me one question, Have you found her yet? With this thought I didn't know what to say so I asked solemnly, Who? very interested in what and most possibly who could be this wendigo, so I researched it at the public library. Later do I discover that a wendigo is a form one reaches after many years. When settlers would travel to California in a quest for gold, many would leave their homes too late and would be trapped in mountain ranges during fierce storms. After a lack of food, a settler would turn on the members of his party to survive. Over time and after they would get out of the trouble, everything would seem ''peechy'' but it truly isn't.
