This one mans behavior could explain a lot. He was an judge ,an entrepreneur, rancher ,farmer, held various other small government titles BUT he also was a, by all accounts, a manager of badgirls!|
He held LARGE scale establishments that lasted 10 months out of the year .|
During the time owning what is now Escondido and just before he owned it there were disease and Mother Nature in full force.
1832 there was a malaria outbreak.
1855 a three year drought which harmed his empire, he had workers in the 1000s.
1862 small pox epidemic.
1863 a 2 year drought.
1877 an attack on Indian that held water.
Many Indians died and were not buried with their people.
