La Grange, California Ghost Tales | |

Most of my experiences were in the 1980's when I lived with my family as a child. They centered in the area on the terrace above Hwy 132 and the main part of town between the elementary school and the cemetery on the west side of Floto St. Near the old school house. I encountered multiple shadow figures, some solid masses, in these areas at dusk and after dark. I saw one gentleman spirit as a full-body apparition, regularly in the vicinity of the old school house and old wooden home that was demolished on the hillside, just west of Floto St. , behind the hotel, in 1985. He wore taupe colored slacks with a red leather belt, worn brown leather boots, a long-sleeve faded red linen shirt, and a tan hat. He looked to be in his later 30's to early 40's with a reddish brown beard. I sometimes saw him with tools and am pretty sure he was a miner or was in a related trade. When I did see him, he would typically smile and walk towards me to interact like he was going to pick up his own child. He would speak, but I cannot remember anything he said,

any accent he had, or any names he used to try and place him. I remember onetime when he tried to interact, he conveyed a story to me about how he died - but he didn't speak it, he just shared the vision and feeling. It scared me enough that I thought he would come into the house and bother me. I would only go to sleep in my parent's bed for over a

year - they would have to carry me to my room to put me to bed after I had already gone to sleep. I never told them why I didn't want to fall asleep alone. They probably just assumed it was me being afraid of the dark or some boogie man in my imagination.
I am glad I had these experiences since they allowed me to continue to keep an open mind when it comes to spirituality and understand that there is a continuous energy force that we are all a part of, no matter what your faith or anyone else's faith calls it. Some people choose to move on right away and others decide to linger to tell their story or because they are so attached to a place, objects, or events that they cannot let go. I have thought about going back to see if he's still there. Maybe sometime I will.

While getting something out of my truck at about 0850pm in the 132 and Jalapa area out of the corner of my eye I saw a gentleman in 1800's

attire, black pants, white shirt, and tan vest. He had clean cut brown hair combed to the side with a wet look to it. When I turned to get a clear view of him he disappeared. His shadow was on the garage door. It made the hair on the back of my neck standup. This is the first time in the 10 years living here that I have had anything like this happen.
