I worked at the La Quinta resort for a couple of years. I would have to get there early to open up the coffee shop. We would have to walk to the security building to get the store key. The pathways are very dark and within different buildings, super creepy. On many occasions I would hear footsteps, but one time I heard my name near the security hut. I ignored it and continued to the lobby to get my register cash and heard it again, only a little louder. I ignored it and went out the back door. When I turned the corner I heard someone shout my name even louder right by my ear. There was nobody there. In the shop you can hear footsteps and doors opening and closing.
On one occasion the dressing room/storage room door would not open. It was unlocked and two of us employees would turn the handle and push on the door with force, and nothing. I even got the key to make sure it wasn't locked. As we gave up and walked away we heard a clicking noise, like it was unlocked from inside. I turned the handle, and it opened easily. I closed the door, and we both refused to go in that day.
I had heard many of the stories and know of the gentleman who committed suicide in one of the original rooms. He committed suicide in his garage (his home is still up and condemned and used for storage and still on the property. ) I hear that his ashes were scattered on the grounds. The original home looked over the family pool, and reports have been made of someone looking out the second story bedroom window, which is impossible because the room is packed, and there is no way anyone can even get close to it. (The door was unlocked so I went in with a co-worker. ) I felt extremely uneasy in there and felt major cold spots. I also felt like was being watched!
The resort definitely has a lot of history and is definitely haunted. Those were just a few of my experiences while I worked there.
