During the construction of my house on Hardtree, my pregnant wife and I lived in a small house at the end of Akker (this is in Elizabeth Lake that shares Lake Hughes Zip Code). Summer was ending and I lit the forced air furnace. Almost immediately I would be awakened by a 90-degree house in the middle of the night. I would check the thermostat, and it would be cranked all the way on. This continued to happen, and my wife was having a difficult pregnancy, so I called a repairman to look at the thermostat. He checked it and assured me it was just fine. This happened on and off for the rest of the winter. Summer came, and I was glad to turn off the furnace and shut the gas valve off. That very night the house was roasting hot again. I got my wife up this time, and we walked down the hall. I said to myself ''If that furnace is on, we're going to a hotel!''
I could see flames flickering on the wall as we went down the hallway. I thought the house might be on fire. I turned into the kitchen and all four burners of the gas stove were on full, and the oven door was open, and the oven was on all the way. Side note: That oven had NEVER worked. It had a bad thermo-couple, so we had just used the microwave. My wife left for town later during the day, and I sat down and had a little ''talk'' with the ghost. I said ''I don't know who or what you are, but we are RENTING and will be out in a couple more weeks!'' Nothing ever happened again. I was afraid that the ghost would move with us (I've read about that happening). Since then I've read several accounts of ''cold'' ghosts who do just what this one did. I am surprised there isn't a category on this site for houses heating up. There was also cold spots in the other bedroom that I could discuss, but it's too lengthy.
