Comment by Lil: Which cemetery was it?.
I used to live in a house on Fairview Avenue in Madera, CA. It was a relatively older neighborhood two blocks away from Thomas Jefferson Middle School and a couple of streets away from the Arbor Vitae Cemetery. There are a number of things that went on in this house that raised some questions. Doing some research on the house I found out it was built in 1950, but no other history regarding its first owners and who has stayed there. So I figured I would share our experiences.
We first started asking questions when we began hearing our stuff moving in other rooms while we were in an opposite room. Sometimes when the dishes were not washed, we would hear cups slamming on the kitchen counter while we were watching TV in the living room. Pictures would fall off the walls. At night the backyard was huge and almost pitch black since there was no street lamps along the alley. You just got that weird feeling someone was watching you. Once I was lying in the dark in my room listening to my iPod I started trailing off in thought about whether I believed in the devil or not. A few minutes later I felt the mattress press down, like somebody got in bed next to me. I looked next to me, and I could see the faint indentation of a body there. I got up and ran out that room so fast. I thought it was just me, but I found out later that other people in my family had things like that happen to them.
My brother spent the night one night, and he slept on my floor. He was younger then and scared of the dark, so he left the door open and kept the hall light on. He said he saw the door start to twitch a little. He got up to see what was going on, when the hall light shut off, and the door slammed shut, almost smashing him in the nose. My uncle, who is a big ex-football-manly-kind of guy, was at our house one night waiting on us to get back from the fair. He was looking at some mail he had gotten when he said he heard someone shaking the door knob leading to the garage from the dining room. It was like someone was desperately trying to get in. We pulled up about ten minutes later, and he came out all pale faced, demanding to know who was at the door. We swore to him no one was in the house.
Sometimes when coming home I remember hearing sighs, like a little girl would if she's playing hide and seek, and you find her. The last incident was just before we moved out of the house. We began hearing this strange scratching noise in the attic/roof area. We thought some animal had crawled in and got stuck in the walls, so we called the exterminator, and he came out to take a look. He set some traps, but told us he could not find anything. No animal, no nest, no droppings-- nothing that would indicate an animal living up there. We dealt with that until we moved, and I still remember the image of my grandma getting up in the middle of the night in her nightgown and cap, hitting the roof with a bat and yelling ''Stop it!''.

There was a house that my uncle owned just out of the city limits. When I was younger we were there all the time. My grandparents and some of my cousins lived there. My first experience there happened when I was young, about five or six years old. It was 8:00 pm on Christmas Eve; my whole family was hanging out and waiting until midnight to open gifts. I was playing with two of my cousins, running around like we always did.
