Mendota, California Ghost Tales The spirit of a woman called the Whites Bridge Lady has on occasion been known to hitch rides between the bridges near the slough and then disapearing before reaching the end of the bridge. The ghost of a pregnant woman has allegedly been seen on a small number of occasions smoking a cigar in Jess Gill Park around midnight. The ghost of a young-looking man sporting a rain coat has frequently been perceived in the       early morning hours floating down on Fresno Slough. A decapitated guy is frequently witnessed trying to find a man at Mendota Dam on a dark night. A lady with her right arm and left leg chopped off can repeatedly be witnessed by Fresno Slough crying. The ghost of a guy grasping a blood-covered machete can be observed often having   a seat at the kitchen counter in a Mendota mobile home. A soldier's uniform walking about devoid of a body in it has from time to time been witnessed staring at folks in a Mendota flat through an air vent. Anyhow, this is a bad phantom that is better not interrupted. The ghost of a dreadfully charred woman is once in a while distinguished reasoning in Pinnacles National Monument near the ranger station. People say that this ghost gets pleasure from scaring foolhardy folks who are brave enough to interrupt the quiet in Mendota. The spirit of an engine driver has supposedly been noticed on a few occasions in a desolate zone in the vicinity of Mendota. A lady without a head was perceived mailing a package at a Mendota post office. The spirit did not care that there was someone other near. One of the residents definitely alleges that this phantom likes scaring foolhardy people who come looking for phantoms in Mendota. The ghost of a youthful female with a line around her neck showed up chatting into the night as if somebody besides was there. When the watcher came into sight the ghost escaped. Several people assert this ghost could be the spirit of a resident who passed on here in Mendota a long time ago.
