The story of the woman with the nose around her neck is based om actual fact. My father who was a CHP officer at the time was heading back to the station right off the 99. Right at the intersection of McKee near Bear Creek, there used to be a very tall and large tree. A call had been placed through dispatch because a woman had taken

her life by hanging herself on that tree. Apparently the woman had been suffering terribly from Cancer and decided to end her life. Documents of the woman's death was probably in the Merced Sun Star in

the late 60's, early 70's. I remember this incident growing up in Merced. I am withholding my name out of respect to the suicide victim. In turn, like all restless souls, I hope she finds peace. Submitted by Anonymous

The ghost of a woman having half her head

resident argues that this ghost is the undeparted soul of a long dead Merced person who lived here. In any event, this is an unlikable ghost that is preferably not upset.

charred female was observed strolling through a building in Merced. Panicked by the observers the ghost withdrew into the darkness. One of the folks who live here steadfastly declares that this spirit
is that of a local who had a house here in Merced before the present. No matter what, it is unquestionably a bloodcurdling ghost that you don't want to run into in the early morning hours.
