Submitted by anonymous The story of the woman with the nose around her neck is based om actual fact. My father who was a CHP officer at the time was heading back to the station right off the 99. Right at the intersection     of McKee near Bear Creek, there used to be a very tall and large tree. A call had been placed through dispatch because a woman had taken her life by hanging herself on that tree. Apparently the woman had been suffering terribly from Cancer and decided to end her life. Documents of the woman's death was probably in the Merced Sun Star in the late 60's, early 70's. I remember this incident growing up in Merced. I am withholding my name out of respect to the suicide victim. In turn, like all restless souls, I hope she finds peace.
