Comment by Adam: I remember the old house in Cayucos. It was the old falling down 2-story house on the end of the street near the Cayucos Pier. Someone said that the old warehouse that is now some kind of a gathering hall located next to the pier used to be a storage area where the dead bodies unloaded off the sailing ships were stored on ice waiting their turn for the graveyard.

When we were teenagers the older folks would tell us a story of the old Cayucos pier that in the 1800's there was a young Victorian lady who was engaged to a sailor and he would sail away from the pier on his voyages to make enough money that they could be married.
He would be gone for extended periods of time, while he was away she would walk the pier at night hoping to see the ship sailing into the bay with her beloved. On the eve of her wedding day she waited on the end of the pier in her white wedding dress but the day grew longer and he did not show up. She waited into the night watching the ocean at the end of the pier, when it was midnight news reached her that the ship with her sailor had sunk and all hands were lost. She refused to believe he had died and some people said that was the moment she lost her mind and continued to walk the pier for the next 50 years in her old dirty white torn wedding dress at midnight every evening for hours until one night a fisherman watched the 90 year old woman in a torn white dress step off the end of the pier and sank beneath the waves.
So the story goes that the bride of the pier still can be seen walking the pier at night during foggy evenings softly crying into a ragged old hanky, but if you walk up to her to try and comfort the old woman when she moves the old hanky from her face you are shocked to see her skull with tears coming from her empty eye sockets!!!! As she slowly disappears before your very eyes.

Comment by Adam: Very very scary, I saw her one night at the end of the pier and heard her wailing. This was about two in the morning when the pier was fully engulfed in fog. I was so scared I ran and left my fishing gear on the pier!.
