I lived in a ''dam'' house for seven years. These homes were built in the 30s for the workers who built Shasta Dam. I am confident there was a man in this house. One night I came home to an empty house. I opened my bedroom door and noticed my window was open. Just as I set my keys down on my dresser, I heard a voice from just outside the window say my name. It sounded like someone speaking through one of those voice boxes after a tracheotomy. It freaked me out.
I've lay awake at night with my husband sleeping next to me and felt like someone was standing next to my bed. I've also heard someone talking in my bedroom while I was cooking in the kitchen. If you don't know anything about the ''dam'' houses, they are all around 800 square feet. They all have stucco walls and hardwood floors. Most you can see the ends of the planks sticking out from under the threshold of the front doors. I've lived in two different dam houses, one on Lloyd Lane off of Happy Valley Road / HWY 273 and this most recent one on Wilsey Road off of East Side Road just one mile north of S. Bonnyview.
I never had any experiences in the Lloyd Lane house, but in the Wilsey house I always felt like there was a strong gruff and grungy man there. I experienced lucid dreams a lot, and this was the only house that I ever felt like I was picked up or levitated during my lucid dreams. My husband always accused me of kicking him in my sleep because he often woke up with bruises on his legs. The property owner told me we were his only tenants to ever put a garden in the front yard. As we moved our things out of the house, he tore up the whole yard to dirt because he said it was easier to maintain.

Comment by anonymous: I too lived in a ''dam'' house that had spirits! We had a backroom that was always really cold. No one ever wanted to go in there. Candles wouldn't stay lit; they always blew out. My final experience there was when a superball rolled across the kitchen floor slamming into the metal grill on the refrigerator, making an obnoxiously loud noise! It was after that I had to leave.

I have grown up my entire life on Christine Ave. I am now 45. There has been many many accidents throughout the years on the Sac. River by the park. A friend of mine's uncle drowned, a little girl was ran over, and many more, oh and a young girl was hit by a train in a wheel chair who lived in the welfare apartments by the baseball fields.
