At that corner, across from Magnolia Ave. Baptist Church, I looked toward the shopping center and saw a young man, about 18 or 19 sitting on the curb in front of some apartments. I had a craving to smoke and decided he looked harmless enough to ask for a cigarette. As I got closer, I noticed his clothing was very out of date. He dressed as teenagers did in     the early 90s, not 1999. His haircut and even his shoes were from the early 90s as well. I sat a few feet from him and asked for a cigarette. He said with a shy smile, ''I don't smoke, sorry.'' I told him it was just as well and we made small talk for a few minutes. As we talked, I noticed a pattern. Everything I asked him, he had the answer to before I was finished talking as if he can know my thoughts. For example, I started talking about his style and how it reminded me of the way older kids dressed in 1989 or 1990.
