looked like rain or sleet or static. It looked just like TV static, but it was all around me in the air. I was frozen for a moment, awestruck by the sight of it. Then the fear sunk in when it didn't go away. I pulled the blanket back over my head and decided to move out the very next day.
The old woman was sad and confused by my lack of notice or explanation. I felt bad because I knew they were lonely, but after I left that place I was finally

When I was little I grew up in a rental house on Month Street within walking distance of Alvin Dunn (the school). One of my best friends lived down the street from me, and I was allowed to go to her house but of course had to be home before dark. One night we lost track of time, and I ended up heading home after dark. On the way I heard footsteps behind me, but when I would turn around no one would be there. When I got only a house away from home something grabbed my waist and pulled me to the ground. I looked around and no one was there. I got up and ran home and did not go out after dark alone for a very long time.
We actually moved not long after that incident, and I found out the reason we moved when I was 21. An autistic teenage boy and his dad lived in the house next door. We played with the boy sometimes because he was mentally around our age. He used to watch us swimming through the knot holes in the fence. He couldn't swim though, so he didn't come over the join us. I remember seeing him peering through the fence from time to time up to when we moved, but I never actually saw him or played with him for a few months before we moved.
