Santa Barbara, California Ghost Tales I work at Kamran and Company, a Commercial Kitchen Contractor on Montecito St.  Sometimes when I am there late, I hear whispers and and occasionally a cool breeze will come through strong enough to ruffle the papers on my desk - even though there are no doors or windows open.  I get really scared and I know that strange things have happened before in this old building. I saw a tall gentleman dressed in a dark blue suit, wearing a top hat and carrying a brass topped cane standing at the corner of Cota and De La Vina. I stopped to let him cross the street and he faded away. Very real, very cold, very chilling and uncomfortable experience.... An older       woman's ghost. I don't really know what to do but perhaps I will burn a candle before I go to sleep tonight. When no roommates were home (and I was in my   room) the living room floor would creak as if someone were pacing (back and forth). The worst night started with rattling/banging on one of the windows - I thought it was one of my neighbors/friends goofing around - I called out and said just a minute - went outside and no one was around not even on the street then I realized they had left for the weekend and my housemate had left with his dog to visit his girlfriend down south. Later that night the floor creaking was so loud it woke me up (and continued as I sat terrified in bed). I was so scared that someone had broken in I ran with mace into the front room and turned on all of the lights and there was nothing. I ran through the whole house turning on all the lights - nothing. The creaking started again 20 minutes later - I called my boyfriend and told him I didn't care if he thought I was crazy, but he had to come over. The creaking didn't happen for the rest of the night.
