I lived in a trailer park in Smith River, California. It was just a couple miles south of the Oregon border. I rode a big touring bike GL1800, the biggest and fastest in its class. Nice bike. I was approaching the stop sign leaving the park and waited for a passing motorcycle. It was an authentic WWII GI riding what must have been a stolen German BMW war bike made in the late thirties. He was holding his head down his GI overcoat blowing behind him in

the breeze. I was wondering when a cop was going to pull him over for riding with a leather helmet and WWII goggles, old equipment. I thought he was playing

the part of a GI making a bee line for the enemy lines to get back to the allies with stolen satchel information or something. He had a leather satchel over his shoulder. It was black like the Nazis, not green like the GI's. His headlight was blacked out like it was painted with a strip of tape, then the tape was removed leaving a tiny horizontal strip of light. It was sunset, and he had no tail light. I took off right after him hoping that any cops
