My husband and I lived on the base back in 1991 in Twentynine Palms. I had the worst dreams and saw so many things, and so did my husband. We are lucky our kids were not bothered. When my husband was deployed I was there alone, so my cousin came from Arizona. I remember this like yesterday. My cousin and two of her friends wanted to watch 'The Exorcist,' and I said ''no way. I'm not watching it!'' They said they would sit by me, so I would not get scared. Well shortly into the movie I could not do it. They kept saying ''oh come on. '' I said ''please turn it off. ''
I was sitting on the sofa with my cousin's two friends and my cousin. Then the TV stand slid to the right, and the coffee table in front of us went to the left. The noise it made on that non-carpeted floor was horrifying. We ran outside, and the neighbors looked at us like we were crazy. We asked the neighbors ''did you feel that? Was that an earthquake?'' They said they felt nothing. He also asked his wife, and she said she did not feel anything. We asked the other neighbors, and no one felt anything, nor was there a report the next day on the news.
We lived where our backyard was to the colonel base commander. We were the second house on that corner. I do not recall that address or housing area, but I wish we stayed in our cute little apartment in town because of having to wake up in the middle of the night going to Catholic Church parking lot for peace. Oh yes, we had the house blessed by the catholic priest on base. He said with us both not being catholic our marriage was doomed, and it most likely would not work. He was right; things got worse. I left. I went back to Arizona and left that creepy haunted house! I have many stories of this place, but watching the movie that night took it over the top!.

It has been a while now since my husband was stationed at 29. My uncle was even stationed there many years ago. We all have stories about hauntings from the base. If you ask several of the people that lived in the base housing before the Marine Palms were remodeled, they would tell you it is the men and women that lost their lives coming home to their families. We lived in Marine Palms before the remodel job. A new house is now on the location of where my old duplex once was. While we lived in the old cement house with no carpeting, I would be in the back of the house especially my bedroom, where I would hear the stomping of combat boots walking down the hall only to have no one there. Sometimes while in the hallway I would hear them. We had our front door open on its own all the time (wind or no wind; locked or not!) We finally placed a heavy chair and locked it to keep it from happening, but at times it would still pop open.
We had our daughter in the room at the end of the hall; she was one year old at the time. I would go into her room and feel something staring at me, but I never saw anything but my sleeping daughter. I would then take her out and place her on the couch to finish her nap. I went in there to check on her because I thought I heard her wake up. We also had a very large female Rottweiler dog. When my husband was out at Camp Wilson I would have the dog and my daughter sleep with me. I would hear the claws of a dog hitting the floor as if they were walking down the hallway. I would yell at the dog, and my dog would get off the bed and check out the claws clicking on the floor. I would follow and nothing would be there. My husband had not been a believer of ghosts, but with all the ghost stories that we heard at the base, he was a believer after only living there less than a week. All of this started the day we moved onto base.
