I bought a foreclosed home in 1983. The neighbor told me that a lady had committed suicide in my home. Unexplained occurrences were plentiful. The telephone handset that was resting in the phone box sprang up and out as far as the cord would allow and dropped, which is impossible. A stack of photo albums flipped from one place to another. Perfume bottles were knocked off the dresser in my bedroom while we were watching TV. I actually saw a lady once in the corner of the front room just standing there all misty but defined. I asked my neighbor to describe the former occupant who committed suicide, and her description was what I saw.
We also heard someone running on the enclosed porch, yet it was locked from the inside with padlocks. A flickering light slowly moved from one corner of the bedroom ceiling traveling to the other corner of the ceiling. One time our candle was blown out on the table, and under that same table the temperature was very cold. Light bulbs would burn out very quickly. We had a miniature lantern in the dining room; it would sometimes swing steadily for several minutes. The handle that you open the vertical blinds with swung like a pendulum for a few minutes. Many times we have heard sounds of pictures falling off the walls in other rooms, yet nothing had fallen. Another time a friend came to visit. He was lying on the couch at night when he saw a shimmering light and felt the impression that was face to face. I was in the next room lying on the bed with the door open. I thought that my friend was crouching over me and asked him what he was doing, but he was still on the couch.
The previous tenants with whom I spoke stated similar weird happenings in the home. These are some of the things that have happened here in my twenty-six and a half years. Since I have remodeled, the activity has dwindled down to almost nothing. However, a couple of weeks ago, my daughter and her boyfriend stated weird things were happening. I was out of town that weekend and called her. She said someone was on the enclosed porch taking three loud steps and stopping, then taking three loud steps and stopping. I was in Washington City staying at a hotel which is also haunted. I had also just read an article in the cafe about their ghost who would take three steps and stop. After I had read the article, that night is when my daughter said it had happened, and she had not known of the ghost in that hotel.

When I was six years old we lived on B Street in a big old White House. I remember it was on a hill, and we could see the water (the bay) from our place upstairs. It was a two-story home that had been converted into two apartments, one upstairs and one downstairs. My mom told me it was a historical landmark home of some kind. It was very old.
Originally it was just my mom and I living there, and the ghost activity was somewhat helpful and friendly. The garden hose would get turned on and off before we had to go out to fix it. We would often smell Old Spice aftershave when there had been no men around. We even asked our downstairs neighbor if he wore that cologne, and he didn't.
