Yreka, California Ghost Tales My grandmothers house has a den in the back where I? would watch TV as a child. The couch was facing the TV and the door was facing the side of the couch. I was about 7 or eight when I was sitting watching TV when in the corner of my eye there was a man in the door way. As soon as I turn my head to look he is gone. Every time since then I could tell in my peripheral vision that he was there so I would not move my head, but I could stare at him for minutes. He was a tall man with lots of clothes on. He had an old hat on and a rifle in his hand; he looked like a minor he was see through but in a sepia color the other thing about him is that he had an ax in his back at first I was scared then I got used to him. He would go away if I told him to. This is on upper minor st on a secluded rd, that I later researched to be one of the first mining areas in Eureka...even if I go there today I know that if I just sit there for a few he will show I can guarantee it... go figure. Other folks in the vicinity have had equivalent incidents involving a similar spirit. Regardless of what, it's a chilling phantom that you shouldn't go trying to find. A somewhat decomposed human body was spotted in Discovery Park late at night burying a body by a big rock. This ghost is extremely active in this vicinity; there have been numerous additional accounts of this exact ghost. The ghost of a farmer sporting a worn hat showed up flying across the Kilgore Hills at night. The eye witness ran away after he distinguished the ghost. Whatever folks articulate, it without a doubt is a terrifying ghost that should be kept away from.
