In 1963 our family bought a house on Muir Road (Barry School area) after the owner drowned while fishing. His fishing boat was brought back to the property and stayed there for a couple of years before his family reclaimed it. He had turned the garage into a family room that had sliding glass doors which was the most used entry into the house from the driveway. The family room had a wooden accordion door that opened to the kitchen. We would always hear the sliding door open, footsteps walking across the family room, the accordion door open, and the refrigerator (came with the house) door open.
Those were not usual sounds because we were a big family with many friends and an open door policy. You know. They can just walk right in, and if we we're not home, they could just make themselves comfortable - We'll be back soon. However, when we would hear the sounds without a door opening and nobody, we got the picture. The man who drowned did not know he was dead. Strangely, no one was frightened; he just became part of the household routine and the perpetual question ''did you hear him again. '' When we sold the house in 1987, the new owners turned the family room back into a garage, and I always wondered how that affected the dead man's routine.

My name is Adrian. I've lived in Yuba City since I was born. I was literally born in this town. Anyway, I think that this area is to say the least infested with paranormal activity. I've had so many occurrences. I lived on a house on Pecan Drive (Shanghai Bend area) for 17 years. There was a good year filled with paranormal activity including seeing a black 7-foot tall mass, hearing Native American voices, creepy whispers in my ear, and such. I also attended Yuba City High School, where the infamous choir bus happened.
My teacher even knew some of the kids who died on the stage once. I investigated with some of my friends, and we all heard what sounded like an old man breathing in our ears, like a moan. We all heard and freaked out. We went back and couldn't debunk it. Then it happened again. I always went to the witches' cemetery on a full moon and caught images of orb lights. (I wish I had them. ) After leaving me and my friends all felt we were cursed. Immediately after leaving, we nearly crashed head on into a flock of deer. Not too strange.
