Prineville, Oregon Ghost Tales | |

|
My dad and I have live in Prineville Oregon and have in the last year gotten into gold panning. We enjoy going to the Howard district a ghost town 28 miles northeast of Prineville. This was an old gold mining town with many exciting things and places to explore. One area with a lot of past mining activity is Judy creek. We spend a lot of time there panning for gold and have experienced a few odd things. One time we were there we were checking out the area when we separated by about 100 feet. I was on the creek he was on the road reading an old claim note, while he was on the road he yelled ''What's that'' I said ''I didn't say anything'', and I went along checking out the area. I leaned down to look at the creek bed when I heard what sounded like a woman scream (and not just an innocent scream more like a blood curling one). And it really spooked me I ran back up the bank were he was and said did you here that he didn't. I asked him why he kept asking me what I was saying and told him I hadn't said anything while I was on the creek, he

said he thought he heard people talking like a whole town of people he also told me that he has heard what sounds like a town of people every time we have been near there in the past. This is a very remote area and there is never anyone up there while we are. Another odd time was when we were both panning for gold and it was a cloudy day with no patches

of sun temperature felt like 35 degrees and in a second a warm patch of air passed over us that felt like about 65 degrees. We both looked at each other stood up and moved on. Let me explain at this time that we are both realists; we find a reason behind everything that happens. And we don't get spooked too easy. And if you do your research you'll find this old mining ghost town. If you find something interesting my email is tylerdavidm@yahoo.com. Submitted by Tyler Categories: ghost_town, noises
A white dog/wolf in the parking lot of a shop entering Prineville. My mom didnt notice it, but I did, and it was looking at our car. Like it knew I was talking about it. Submitted by Amy
Most of the people here in Prineville, Oregon are happily uninformed of the horrific secrets this town retains; this zone has its fair share of ghosts. Phantoms are so ordinary here; many local residents don’t even fret about it any longer. Disbelievers don't have faith in the local ghost descriptions,
