Although we had two cats, there was also a third cat whom we would occasionally see out of the corners of our eyes darting up the stairs when our own two were in plain view.  Our cats would hiss at it.  It would also jump on our laps and rub on our legs. There was also     a small boy who I would sometimes briefly glimpse sitting on the stairs.  The most disturbing was a dark presence in the basement.  I refused to go down there.  I experienced this for the first 5 months before I told my husband.  I thought he'd think I was crazy, but he was having the same problem with the invisible cat and thought he was going nuts.  A few weeks before we left, I started to experience poltergeist activity, strange knockings and things being moved.  All the rental agency would say was that they had problems keeping anyone in the house.
