It used to be used to board coal miners and can be seen in many of the Old Town photographs. Before we remodeled our basement we heard very loud footsteps in the middle of the night going up and down our spiral staircase. No one had been awake at the time. Once I was sweeping my kitchen when it was just my sister and I home. I thought my little sister was in the kitchen with     me wearing my halloween wig. (long black hair with a red bow. I turned and looked in the living room to see my sister was just watching TV no wig on. Asked her if she had been wearing my wig and she said she hadn't. I looked to my left and the figure was gone. Scariest thing I've seen. My mother also used to see a six foot tall apparition that looked like a coal miner. My friends saw a few figures for awhile as well.
