Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington Ghost Tales There's a house about a mile north of Hwy 2 on Dover Rd. in Airway Heights, WA. It's the only house on the right side of the road and it's been abandoned for years (locals say since 1945.) It sets back from the road quite a bit, but it is still very noticable. You could tell that at one time it must have looked like a mansion, with nothing but fields for miles and miles. Local kids go to the house often, with numerous stories about what happened there & why it's abandoned. Out in the back of the house by where the cellar is located, there is a huge pile of what looks like just junk. But in all acuallity its a mess of old letters, Christmas cards & bank statments. These letters are dated from 1943-1948 and are all written in pencil. After realizing what they were I picked one up & I could still read it like it had been written yesterday! Mind you that these letters had been exposed to the elements for who knows how long, yet it was all legible.
