Milton, Washington Ghost Tales | |
|
|
I lived in Milton, Washington, in the same home, for over 21 years. I moved into the house when it was newly built back in 1979. From the day my husband and I resided there until the day we moved, we always had our unseen visitor living with us. He would slam the doors, open the sliding glass door, walk about the house upstairs while we sat downstairs watching tv. He would, occasionally, walk down the steps to the tv room and stop. I have heard him sleep and ''snore'' when I was alone in the home, and upon searching for the noise from our unseen friend, as I approached the area it came from, it would stop. After many years of listening to his many antics, and becoming used to it, he ''accepted'' us. During a very trying time in our lives, he stroked our back as if to let us know that things would be okay. It seemed like there was possibly more than one unknown living with us, but we joked and called all of them ''Charly.'' Our Grandchildren refused to go downstairs, even though we'd never mentioned ''our friend'' to them, saying ''NO Grandma,

you have ghosts down there.'' My son saw an old woman and a cat pass by his room when no one was there. He was terrified. One time, during our absence on an extended vacation, we had our son and his wife care for our home. They stayed there and upon our return told us about their experiences. It was obvious to us that our ''friend'' did not like

us being gone so long. Apparently, items were thrown around the house, in an obvious attempt to scare them. The clock was thrown off the wall into the middle of the room. The batteries from the clock scattered onto the kitchen floor, but the clock kept ticking and keeping time as I observed it upon our return.
We moved from the home several years ago,and upon the advise of a friend and professional who had a background in the paranormal, we burned a white candle and encouraged our friend to ''go to the light.'' I know he didn't follow us to our new home. The home was built within 50 yards of an old, protected Indian burial ground near Hilltop Park. My guess is that someone or something felt we had somehow invaded their space, and in time came to accept us. Hopefully, he found his way to the light. .
