Skykomish, Washington Ghost Tales In March 2008, my husband & I were coming home from our cabin on the Wenatchee River, we were making the last curve coming westbound on Hwy 2 and it was raining hard with lots of snow still on the ground and the roadway. It was late about 10pm, very dark, I thought I saw a hitchhiker, he was standing right by the road (no shoulder area)he was young and I couldn't see his face very well, though it looked very dirty and he had a miners lamp on his forehead, he looked right at me. I remarked to my husband, why would someone stand in the pouring rain so late on this dangerous stretch of road?? My husband was concentrating on driving, but he definitely said he did not see the young man. I know I did, it is as vivid now 6 mo later, so I had hoped I would find mention of a coalminer in one of these stories, but I will keep looking!.
