I was so freaked out I decided to leave right away. I was not even back to Peaks yet when a heavy fog rolled in, and I could barely find a beach, never mind the beach I was trying for. I was so spooked, and I will never forget that ghost that might have saved my life the day I tried to go kayaking on Casco Bay.

My family and I come to Peaks Island, Maine every summer, and it has always been fun. This year perhaps was the strangest. There is an old abandoned military base on the island called Battery Steele, and it is most definitely haunted. My cousins and I went inside Battery Steele, and immediately I got a bad vibe from the place. The air immediately gets freezing as soon as we stepped in. We explored the place a little bit when all of a sudden I thought I heard a little kid talking coming from a room. No one else seemed to hear it, so I wrote it off as nothing.
