There were no trees nearby and absolutely nothing to stand on. I ran screaming downstairs and turned on every light. 9 years later some people came by who had lived in the house 40 or so years earlier, before much remodeling took place.
There was no paranormal activity during the time they lived there. But when I asked if they knew of any 2 am window knockings, one woman turned pale. Her then teenaged, now deceased brother had snuck out of the

house and could not get back in, so he climbed onto the then-porch and knocked on his sister's window to be let in.
Other ghosts have been alternately

helpful and mischevious, tossing things from bookshelves that I'm looking for in the wrong place, or stealing things and never ever returning them.
