footsteps behind me and when I looked back there was no one there. I kept going towards my house and if I stopped the footsteps stopped Id start up again and so would they. Finally I got to my house and quickly went inside and locked the door. My dog ran in and hid under our table while I just stood at the door trying to make heads or tails out of what just happened. To this day if I have to be in Rumford for anything I try to get it all done before

I grew up in Rumford and one of the things I remember was our ''haunted'' mailbox. Every night around 1:15 am we were woken up by it slamming open and shut. It went on and off like this for about three months with each time my dad going out to see if someone was messing around with it. Finally after my parents had had enough the got a new mailbox (one that locked shut) and they put the old one in the basement. That didn't help at all in fact the old one started slamming every night after that. My parents went so far as to burry it nder boxes but every night it would start slamming again and the boxes would be on the floor in the morning. We even tried to tape it shut but that didn't work.
