Comment by Sydney: I live nearby that old school / meeting house. I've been in the house with a medium before, and I remember her saying something about a man with a top hat. The house is extremely haunted by very bad spirits, especially in the basement. Someone even killed themselves in the downstairs apartment a few years ago. The medium also said too in the top apartment on the right side of the building that someone hanged themselves over the balcony many many years ago. We live right around the corner, and our house is haunted as well.

The late 1990s a man lost his 15 year old daughter. The daughter would run away a lot but would come home soon afterwards. Then one day she never came back. A week later the father found out that she had been hit by a car in the center of Athol.

She was buried in the Silver Lake Cemetery. So distraught over this the man killed himself by jumping off of the bridge near the old tool factory. It is said that this man still wanders the cemetery looking for girls that resemble his daughter snatching them away forever.
It is also said that the girl still haunts near the Athol CVS right where she was hit. This is the tale that I have heard from locals and just around but it is most certainly true. One night when walking out of CVS I saw the girl just standing there watching me.
She screamed this horrid scream then was gone... I never go to that CVS alone now.
