I have been living on Varnum Ave in Lowell for as long as I was alive. My Grandparents owned it since they were in their 30, and they are now almost 70 years old. I remember since I was a little kid I would always see these shadows and things that weren't normal. I would tell the adults in the house, and they would all laugh it off and tell me that ghosts don't exist.
I remember a very early memory. I was lying in my parents' bed. I was about three, and I had a bad dream. I remember waking up, and I cried for my parents because I was alone. I didn't feel good for some reason. (I am not blaming the feeling of being sick on the ghost. ) I then ended up getting up and walking down the stair care, where I saw a black figure standing on the stair care. I struggled to turn on the light, as the light switch was about four to four and a half feet on the wall. I eventually switched it on, and the figure wasn't there. I ran down the stairs to where my grandparents, uncles, and parents were all sitting (the living room) and asked them if they were on the stairs. They all denied it, and why would they lie to a 3 almost 4 year old? I shrugged it off, but I was always nervous going up the stairs with no light.
I would shadow people at the corner of my eyes or standing in doorways to dark hallways or even in the corners, but they will vanish when you bring your eyes to them. Now a few years from the stair way thing, I was in the den, which my family made into a bedroom for my cousins to have. We made a mess, and I was about eight years old. My cousins and sister were about four to six, and they were running around crazy. They left me to clean the room. I was sitting on the floor. As I started picking up movies from the floor and placing them in a bin, I glanced up as everything seemed to fall silent. It was like my sister and cousin must've gone to the living room. When I looked up, there was a girl in a white flower dress and long medium brown hair. Her hair had banana curls on the side of her face that was just under her chest. She was about six. I thought it was my cousin Isabel. I didn't look at her too long as it didn't seem like anything was wrong as it was Isabel's room.
I ended up grabbing more movies from the floor and handed it out to her, and I kindly asked ''can you help?'' I was pretty sure I felt someone grasp the movies and went to pull at them. When I looked back over to simply thank her, she wasn't there. Out in the kitchen were my sister, Isabel, and my other cousin running around the table. I got up asked if they were in the room, and all three of them shook their heads no. They told me that they have been running around the table playing tag and haven't even gone in the room since they left. I dropped it again. I mean, it wasn't harmful, so why should I be scared?
A year later my grandpa passed away, and I asked my grandma if I can share the room with her, so she wouldn't be lonely. Well, I was sick and tired of sleeping on blankets on the floor of my parents' room. I was lying in bed. I usually slept facing the wall and away from the doorway. My mom always told me to never look at the door way to sleep because it will give you nightmares. However, I don't remember if I woke up or if I just couldn't sleep that night. I looked at my Grandma sleeping and listened to her snores, and then I looked at the lights of the cars passing by. I just sat there, and then I felt a weird ringing feeling. I mean I felt it. Yeah, I heard it, but I felt this weird feeling that felt like it rang through my body. I then saw something walking through the door way. It was a tall black figure, maybe 6'3 thin. It was moving slowly. It moved in, and it turned its face and looked right at me with its red eyes.
I jumped, and I closed my eyes. I told myself what my dad always told me when I was afraid of the dark. If you can't see them, they can't see you. I repeated that in my head, and I clearly saw that there was something there, but I guess I didn't think that would count as I only saw black and not what is actually looked like.
