My family's house was the oldest by far in the neighborhood, and all sorts of scary stuff happened. However, the most impressive one was also witnessed by four different (relatively intelligent) people. When I was a teenager, my sister and I and two of our friends had a séance in the attic of our house. Scary! All at the same time, one ballerina music box (part of a jewelry box) wound down while a different (long-been-broken) ballerina music box started up. This happened at the same time as a gust of wind blew through a side window and blew out our candle, and at the exact same time all the lights in other parts of the attic went out. We all ran screaming out of the house, and stayed outside till my parents came home.
When they came home we told them about the problem with the lights in the attic, and they tried to solve the problem by changing the light bulbs and changing the fuses (very old fashioned fuses,) but nothing would work. We didn't tell them about the séance part, but they couldn't for the life of them figure out how to fix the electrical problem. We had to run an extension cord up there to have any electricity up there at all. Then, months later, I got annoyed at the inconvenience, went back into the cellar to replace the fuses yet again, went back to the attic and shouted ''enough already, knock it off!'' The power came back on. Doh! Pretty scary, especially since there were four of us who all saw and heard and felt the exact same thing.

I lived in Quincy and saw a man in the doorway grinning every night. He was dressed like Abraham Lincoln. When I slept in my grandmother's room he showed up in her doorway too. I woke her up, and she said ''yes, I see him too. '' Then years later my sister said she saw him too.
During the night years later I heard a loud growling sound, and it got louder and turned into a roar, not human sounding. It was awful in the middle of the night. The whole family woke up and jumped out of bed. We left in the middle of the night the whole family. Then the next day we went back, and our cat stayed outside for days and would not come in.
