Early on foggy mornings you can see a very interesting paranormal phenomenon coming from Newton Island in Sudbury Reservoir. If you look towards the island and look closely into the mist you can see shapes of people moving around on the island.
These are believed to be the ghosts of James Smith the Third and his men. James III led a small expedition here a few years before the area was settled in the 1600s. There was no lake yet and it wasn't an island

yet.
He and his men were killed in a fight with the natives and remained there as ghosts.
