I recently moved out of Whitman down to Kingston, but I spent my first 15 and 1/2 years on Hayden Avenue. My old house, a current three-family in which my family still owns, is the oldest house in the town on record. It was owned by Augustus Whitman of the Whitman family, whom the town was named after. The family owned the land that is now the Town Park. We originally thought the house was built in the 1880s. However, one day when I was around 12, a

member of the historical society came and told us that they found more information on the house, that it indeed was the oldest house and was actually

built in 1874.
Anyway, my father did a lot of work on the house. There's a separate external garage that was originally a small stable that my father converted to an office in around 2009. He also renovated the entire third floor during February vacation of 2010. While he was working on these projects there were often strange occurrences. A good family friend, to whom we rented the first floor apartment, was helping my dad tear a wall down
