My girlfriend and I were parked over at Mary Blair overlooking the water. It was hot, so we rolled down the windows enough to get a breeze but not invite too many mosquitoes. The lightning bugs were flashing and swirling about, and it was a nice evening. Suddenly we heard a sound -- a faint melody of a young girl humming. We thought maybe someone was walking past the car. We looked around, and we were definitely alone. There was a dead stillness and no sound at all. Even the peep frogs stopped peeping, and the lightning bugs stopped flashing. Then lightning flashed over the water, even though it wasn't raining. We left as quickly as possible. Kind of spooky huh?.
