as if the body was constructed of a flame projecting itself through haze. I did not think twice. I pushed the figure up launching it toward my closet. My closet then slammed shut. Out of either sheer adrenaline or fear I leapt towards my kitchen as it was the closest exit down the two flights of apartment stairs and out to freedom.
My legs felt rubbery, I could not even get to the door. I reached for our wired phone on the wall above the kitchen

table. I dialed any number I could think of. My mom's phone was probably off due to her working in a nursing home as well as the whole nine yards on why
|
no one would pick up. I checked the clock reading, the exact time was 2:32 am. I remained in an uncomfortable standoff for hours after sunrise.
I have told this happening to a few others. I am thankful and surprised people see the honesty in this. By no means did I hallucinate, nor was I delusional. I can obviously separate dreams from reality. In fact I write many dreams down. It was a holdover from a songwriting class I took to help create lucid
