My great grandfathers name. I researched the house afterward and found my great grandfather's log. I read it saying that his girlfriend in college got hit by a car and she was haunting him. I guess she haunts the house, not just him. Submitted by Unknown

My new husband, my sister, and I bought a two-family home built in the 1940s, on North Maple St, between Sagamore and Salmon. My sister lived upstairs from 1983-to 1987 ish until we bought her half out and rented it to tenants until we moved to California in 1995. Our Maple St. House was easy to see heading up Maple, and I loved putting white electric candles in each of the MANY windows at Christmas. People often complimented the many unique windows-bay, large, small, intricate lattice work, and two cozy attic widows highlighted the large home.

Before we moved in and before our wedding in April, 1983, my husband and I worked inside. We pulled down wallpaper, restored the original walls, and painted. Both my sister and he worked at their jobs on a night shift. Therefore, he worked on the house at day, and I worked in the evening.

One night, paint brush in hand, I worked alone and faced the back window with my back to the door. I thought one of them had come home, walked in the door of the room where I felt a presence and a breath on my hair. Happy. I turned around, and there was no one. For SURE I thought it was he or my sister. As I continued to paint, I felt watched. I felt a presence behind me and felt as if it too was uneasy. I pushed the idea of fear aside, and then it felt as if someone was beginning to braid my hair. I looked up at the ceiling as if a spider had climbed down, and I even waved a paint brush in the air to break a web, but there was nothing. Still, the feeling of hair braiding continued. I had never experienced ''ghosts'' before, and I began to feel as if this presence was wondering about me as much as I was wondering about it.
I was a church soloist, and if you ever attended St. Joseph's Cathedral in the early 70s, you would know me. Again, as a choir Christmas and Easter soloist in late 70s when I was home from college, you would know who I am. Then, I was a soloist and choir member and junior choir director at St. Catherine's. My point is that I used my voice to ease the angst I was feeling from the spirit. I thought that once it heard my Shubert's Ave Maria, as well as Gounod's, it would realize I was a good person and to leave me alone. The feeling of the braiding hair stopped as I sang.
Marriage, moving in, time passed, and eventually the spirit visited several times. It hovered while I vacuumed. It hovered in our bedroom where my husband even agreed to change bedrooms. It stood in the doorway in the pantry when I played and sang at the piano. Sometimes I could see in my peripheral vision a very tall male shadow leaning in the doorway. I never really saw his coming and his going, just a side clarity at some point during the songs. I was uncomfortable and had the house blessed. I asked to spirit(s) to go to the attic and not intrude if it could not leave the house.
